I wish to uninstall VLC player from my U3 thumb drive. I do not see any Uninstall Icon on the drive as mentioned in the support documentation. How do I remove VLC? I used version 4.42.0.0 available from portableapps.com/u3

PortableApps.com does not make U3-compatible packages of VLC. The normal process for uninstalling a portable app is to delete the folder you placed it in.
If you got an unofficial, re-packaged for U3 version of VLC Portable from somewhere else, you'd have to ask them as we wouldn't support it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
