Hi John
Your correction of Resynthesizer Python plug-In for GIMP 2.10.22
It works well with GIMP 2.10.24...
But, installing GIMP 2.10.24, I have lost my document history
And the G'MIC plug-in does not work now !
I cannot use this version just like this
What do you think about these bugs ?
Regards

There are no changes between the previous release and this one in terms of build or portablization code. Does that plugin for sure work on 2.10.24 with a local install since it was abandoned 4 years ago? Please try a clean install of GIMP Portable to see if that plugin works there as well.

Hi John , G'MIC is not abandoned with regular updates even in 2021 : https://twitter.com/gmic_eu
Sorry, I think I looked at an unofficial page that hadn't been updated.

You're welcome
Hi Laurent,
I noticed you have your plug-ins installed to a different folder than I do, and mine seem to work fine with this latest update from John. If I remember correctly, when we were troubleshooting the Resynthesizer plug-in, John pointed out that plug-ins (for the Portable version) need to be installed to the PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins folder. At least, that's where mine are and they all (G'Mic included) work great.
Also sorry, but my Open Recent (Document History) menu works too, so I can't help you there.
Have you tried a fresh install? You may want to try that (as you can still keep your original, if put in a different location) and test placing plug-ins in this folder above to see what works.
Long story short, I agree with John, there are no bugs in this version. It's mainly just that GIMP struggles to work correctly with all plug-ins, and that is only going to get worse in the future. Meanwhile, at least since John did the GREAT fix from last version, Resynthesizer, G'Mic, and Liquid Rescale are are perfect on my installation! Thanks again John!!!
Good luck!

Thks, you're very much welcome, and John too
I appreciate the very good job done here
I'm not so technical at PortableApps, and I do my best to give understanding of my issues
Regularly, I update my PortableApps GIMP and that's all, but I find that kinda bug : shouldn't be, from my point of view, as a regular user
I will try your counsels and give feedback
In my opinion, I just can say i'm happy to get counsels from you two
And, I'm French, so understand I'm not easy with correct English answers

Hi
What you say is absolutely false
If I move my plug-ins from C:\!!\AppsP\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\Data\.gimp\plug-ins to C:\!!\AppsP\PortableApps\GIMPPortable_2.10.22_Rev_2\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins
Then, they just not available at all in GIMP !?!!!
Rgds
Could you two compare setups (windows version, 32-bit vs 64-bit, install path, etc) to see what differences may be contributing?

Laurent, this is my setup. I can assure you all three plug-ins (G'Mic, Resynthesizer and Liquid Rescale) are working fine and installed to the folders I listed. Here are my details. Good luck...

This was clarified by John in his forum post https://portableapps.com/comment/243308#comment-243308
John T. Haller - Correct Location: Whatever you install to C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins in the local version should be installed to GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins in the portable version.

Resynthesizer Version Unknown* - Release Date Unknown*
*There seem to be quite a few versions (none with clear revision numbers) of this plug-in, and I don’t think it is still being supported – But the version linked above seems to be more recent than most, and works great for me.
** This version also contains 32-bit and 64-bit executables for the front end (both use the same .PY scripts). Oddly, for me both 32-bit AND 64-bit executables each work. I tried each pair in two different GIMP Portable installations and they both worked the same.
Extract the Zip archive and copy all *.py files and the two executables (ONLY ONE SET either from the Win32 or Win64folder) to GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\

Version 64bit
Extract the Zip archive and copy the contents (two files) to GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\
Hi
Nobody knows this 64-bit version is coming from : -\
And it is not necessary
If I put the standard Liquid Rescale dll/exe in PortableApps\GIMPPortable\Data\.gimp\plug-ins, then it works well
If I use the official version http://liquidrescale.wikidot.com/, ten it works well too
Why bother with an unknown source gimp-lqr_Win64.zip ?

Just to say, I have updated, and it's KO : trying your counsels now...
lostamiga : your counsels make plug-ins just invisible in portable GIMP !?
Hi John
What is a clear line of conduct to me is what you said : There are no changes between the previous release and this one in terms of build or portablization code
Well, I'll check my plug-ins to see if there are really all up to date.
I shall have verified that before opening a bug, but forget it, as there is no automatic plug-ins version check (of course)
I will give you some feedback after updating, if needed...
lostamiga's config is not working at all : all my GIMP is broken : I do not even understand that it could work like that for him !?
On the contrary, I think I use the right folder with GIMPPortable\Data\.gimp\plug-ins ; and it worked well until now : -)
Regards
Well, thank you John and Iostamiga (your last posts are great !)
I continue to use PortableApps\GIMPPortable\Data\.gimp\plug-ins either this is not working : do not know why !?
Perhaps because I'm French = internationalization !?
I have updated my GMIC 2.9.6 to GMIC 2.9.7 and it works now !
I keep Iostamiga links under my elbow for further use : -)
Regards
The folder PortableApps\GIMPPortable\Data\.gimp\plug-ins seems to me the right place for perso plug-ins, and it works well : -)
