TextFX.dll is a 32-bit Notepad++ plugin which hasn't been updated for donkey's years but is still very useful with unique features. It's not compatible with 64-bit Notepad++.
Is there a way of forcing PortableApps to use the 32-bit version? I have seen that this can be done for Firefox, but no mention of Notepad++.
Please don't ask me to find alternative solutions, there's pages of bickering about that on the Notepad++ forums!
many thanks
Not currently as there is in Firefox, no. But you can cheat. Copy the contents of Notepad++Portable\App\Notepad++ and overwrite the contents of Notepad++Portable\App\Notepad++64. It'll run the 32-bit version with the Notepad++64 directory. And you can place your plugins in there. You'll need to do this manually after each upgrade.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I was able to force PortableApps to use the 32-bit version by editing the INI file ((PortableApps_Directory)\Notepad++Portable\App\AppInfo\Launcher\Notepad++Portable.ini) -- change "ProgramExecutable64=Notepad++64\notepad++.exe" to "ProgramExecutable64=Notepad++\notepad++.exe". Back up the INI file first just in case.
