Specifics

Firefox writes to multiple directories while running but it should be removed on exit. What specifically is left behind? This often changes in newer Firefox versions and I have to keep updating the launcher to keep pace.

Windows 10 Pro 21H2
Firefox Portable 95.0.0

• FirefoxPortable.exe runs from D:\PORTABLES\FirefoxPortable\
• The Firefox.ini is used but the only edit is AllowMultipleInstances=true
• policies.json in distribution folders in both app folders to DisableTelemetry and DisableAppUpdate
• about:preferences > General > Startup: "Firefox is not your default browser"

Mozilla folders are created in:
C:\ProgramData
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local
C:\Users\user\AppData\LocalLow
C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming

The ProgramData\Mozilla folder contains:
profile_count_FirefoxPortable.json
UpdateLock-FE5AA575DA108BEA
An "updates\FirefoxPortable" folder containing update-config.json

In AppData, files and folders like
SkeletonUILock-540da419
Temp-{e95ad136-1ee9-4134-80c6-6a6dbbecfb39}
are cleared on closing but not in
Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports

I delete 'em all them and they return.

Not particularly an issue with me. Just posting up my observations. But a solution, if any, to squelch all that folder/data building would be welcome.

Additional detail upon request at your convenience, like after your New Year celebrations. Smile

BTW: Thanks for PortableApps!

Cheers.

Expected Behavior AllowMultipleInstances

This is due to using AllowMultipleInstances. If you want Firefox Portable to be fully portable, you'll need to turn off that setting. The multiple Firefox instances may also step on each other a bit. Sorry there's not a better answer.

You're welcome, glad they're helping you.
