Older versions of the platform put an autorun.inf in the root of your drive. This will take precedence over renaming it within Explorer (a quirk of Windows). You can either edit the file (giving you control over the icon and the name) or delete it and use Windows Explorer. You'll need to eject and reinsert or possibly reboot for Windows to see the change.
