Every day, people use WhatsApp on their devices, but Threema is certainly known to very few.
Threema is a very secure messenger from Switzerland and I have been using it since Facebook took over WhatsApp.
For some time now, Threema is also available as a desktop application for Windows and I find it very handy when I'm on the PC.

Excuse me, but Telegram subverts the rule of law and is probably the worst thing on the market right now.
This messenger is misused to spread right-wing ideological fantasies, hate messages and agitation, and the operator doesn't even respond to government requests.
But feel free to continue using it.
I'm recommending Telegram because it's an already portablelized app, well known and has a clear privacy policy for people avoiding the controverted Fakebook products.
What's the worst thing on the market depends on the point of view of everyone.
