Portable APps Updater requests Portable Apps Platform be closed

With the recent release of Portable Apps Platform 20.1 the updater is asking that I

Please close all instances of PortableApps.com and then click OK. The portable...

In checking Task Manager for running versions of PortableApps I find only the updater is running. This has occurred almost daily over the past two weeks. While not fatal it is frustrating that something that has happened flawlessly over the past years should now be problematic.

Can anyone give me some advice as to how to resolve this issue?

Updated or No

I'm not sure what you mean by the installer. The platform's installer? Does that mean you haven't updated yet? If so, I'd suggest rebooting and then running the PA.c Platform again to let it automatically update. If it fails again, reboot again and then check your drive for errors. Then manually download the PortableApps.com Platform from our website and run the installer. It won't automatically detect your install path due to it being non-standard, but you can select custom and then explore to the location of Start.exe and select to install there to perform an upgrade (do not select the PortableApps directory that contains the PortableApps.com folder and all your apps).

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Well that did not work

I am not sure what you mean by "PA.c Platform". I followed your instructions (starting at "Manually download...") then testing all three options --

1) New Install,
2) Upgrade,
3)New Location
-- All ended in the same error message on the next screen.

While I wish I had the time to troubleshoot more, I don't, so I just gave up and installed PA 20.1 in a new folder and copied all existing apps to the new directory structure, then renamed folder appropriately. All is back to normal. Its really odd as I have three identical installs and only this one showed signs of failure.

At any rate thanks for at least taking time to respond.
