regret error on update

This keeps re-appearing. The last call for help went entirely unanswered which says something about the culture around portableapps.com
Clearly, you can overcome it if you download the full app and hope it doesn't overwrite your own local settings
But that's not the point - portable apps are available in great number all over the net - security check each according to your views.
The only reason you'd support portableapps.com is if it's a one stop shop
Not only is it not but it doesn't support it's users regarding updates to previous downloads
So, that being the case, you might as well go free, download from wherever and simply create shortcuts to each app and do away with portableapps.com completely.
Debate me wrong.

Standard Error

This is a standard error you'll get when the Windows internet components (which the PA.c Platform's App Store and Updater use) can't complete a connection. You'll find other discussions of it in our forums with discussion on causes and solutions. If you're at a university or company, it could be a block at their firewall level. If you're in certain geographic regions, some apps can't be downloaded (Skype, Chrome, etc) as their publisher will geoblock them. If Windows isn't fully updated, that can cause issues.

Are you able to download the app list to get the app store to show? Are you having issues with all apps or just specific ones? As a test, you can try to download 7-Zip (open source on SourceForge) and Stickies (freeware hosted on our server).

Side note: Please keep passive aggressive comments and similar out of the forums here. You're talking to human beings who are making something and trying to help you for free.

Ignored cultivates passive-aggressive

John
You ignored this guy for 6 months, possibly forever until you got a more spirited response. Whineing about "Passive Agressive" is so very Woke and probably best left until you actually receive something "Passive Aggressive" - as for doing something for free - that's entirely up to you but if you then wish to solicit donations, you'd need to be more solicitous and less perishable I suggest. Just saying.

Forum Guildeines

Please review the Forum Guidelines sections on "Be Polite and Patient" and "Play Nice". If you'd searched the forum before posting as outlined in the Forum Guidelines' search before posting section, you'd likely have found the other posts where the reget error was addressed and described in detail. If you were interested in being helped, you'd have responded to one of the specific questions I posed or tried the tests I recommended to help figure out your issue. If you somehow believe it is my personal responsibility to reply to all 239,601 posts that have been made on this forum, I'd suggest looking for the issue with that within yourself.

Again, this forum is designed to help developers and users. Those who are uninterested in being a part of that and following the forum guidelines, particularly the parts about being polite, patient, and kind, are unwelcome here.

Funny how the crackpots have made up names

Whatever the warm climate of luvvy luvvy here - my point still stands, If your app updates are faulty or just don't work for groups of peeps - it's just as easy to download portables from anywhere; check them as you see fit before install and create shortcuts. Just sayin'. Playin' nicely don't mean lie down.

Call me the Sea..

Call me the sea. The sun won’t make me dry, and the rain won’t make me cry.
Call you the troll. You have no purpose or role than to destroy, the great city of Troy.
Call them the light. That you search and fight, to stay in the darkness of the night.
Call it the flood. When the life is a desert, and you can’t make anything good.

Stand under a hurricane. If you can’t hurry to understand.
