Hello. I have a question, and I hope someone can help me.
I'm using Portable Tbird on an WinXP SR2 system. I have just imported a list of 30 names into the address book. A new list was created -- it has the folder icon to the left of the book. What I really wanted to do was to import the data into a mailing list beneath the Personal Address Book. I will be sending posts to this list as a bcc: so that users won't see the names of others on the list.
When I compose an e-mail, I can type in the bcc: field the name of a sublist -- something beneath the Personal Address Book. It doesn't autocomplete any of the other address books I have. I'm guessing I have to move all the names in my new address list into a sublist under Personal Address Book in order to use those names in a mass mailing.
I'm not sure I'm describing the situation very well, but if I have, does anyone have an idea as to how I can accomplish this?
Thanks.
First off, you should read this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mailing_lists
You can also find more info here: http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/
Something important to note - Thunderbird cannot be set to BCC by default, for either individuals or mailing lists. What is recommended is to make setting the receiver to BCC a habit. In other words, *first* select to BCC someone(s) and *then* enter the receiving address(es) or lists.
Eureka! I figured out how to do it. A hint for those who may not know: in the Address Book, there are two check boxes beneath the names in the book -- Add to To and Add to CC. If you select the names (shift-arrow key), then right click, there's a third option -- Add to BCC. Strange that this isn't available with the check boxes on screen, but it's there with a right click.
Thanks!
