My account and old emails just dissappeared

Can someone help me?

Everything was fine, I quit the program and then removed the USB stick. Next time my account and everything else was gone. The account wizard came up and wanted to create a new account.

I have done nothing myself to do any backups, but there is some files (about 500MB) in a folder on the USB stick that I think has to do with Thunderbird.

I tried "open saved messages" but I'm not sure I did it right. How do I get my profile back and my sent/inbox??

Anyone??

Try

using a new copy and copy your old Data folder over.

Download

a fresh copy from here to your Desktop. Doubleclick on it to decompress it. Then copy the /ThunderbirdPortable/Data folder from your USB drive to the /ThunderbirdPortable folder on your Desktop.
That will make sure there are no problems with your copy of TBPortable.
Then you can delete all the *.msf files in the subfolders of \ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile\Mail\.
