Make sure though on your site that you do not post any roms owned by Nintendo, Sony, a few others that I can't remember... Basically keep this as your rule of thumb for any roms that you want to share legally, if they can be bought at a store today like walmart or best buy then it should not be hosted.
If you violate the above info, your site will be hunted and shut down by the afore mentioned companies. They don't like people sharing out their IP.
do know that if you download a rom. u have 24 hours to delete it from your system unless u own it.

What do you mean 24 hours? Why would you have 24 hours to delete it? Sorry, I don't follow and I'm stumped.

he was saying that if you download a rom for a game that you do not own, you can LEGALLY keep it for 24 hours. this isn't true though, the fact is if you do not own the game, it's illegal to download the rom at any time

To twist it even further... If you do not have the exact revision of hardware that the rom matches to you still can not have it.
While the laws of roms and such are cut and dry, the old arcade roms from way back in the day are no longer actively policed. While you can not have them without the hardware that they go to, no one will penalize you unless you are making money off of them. I am hardcore into MAME for several years now and they have as their disclaimer on launching the roms that you have 24 hours to posses the rom and then you have to delete it.
Abandonware does not exist i know but that is essentially what a majority of the old game are now. The houses that made them have been bought up or split up and auctioned to the point that no one know who owns what anymore for the older games.

Personally I like using home brew games. I tried making my own gba game but it's harder than one thinks and I am stumped at where to start even with a basic plot

well i guess leave the roms out for now until i collect a whole bunch. but site should be great for people making games for fun and free.

Nintendo could make a bundle if they'd just sell their old games as roms on CD at game stores. Their "zero-tolerance for emulation" policy is just stupid in a profit-making sense.

Well I hand code everything my self and am currently working on my own open-source cms thats going to be an alternative to SubDreamer

im not all that good with codes so i just use the ready made progs so it is all pretty much cut and paste. (BTW, are there any good sites to learn Python? im kindof a noob to the world of codes and crap and i am taking up a recomendation from a friend who happens to be a good programmer. so, i nead to find sites for learning Python.)
