another instance of Opera is already running

Hi,
Here's my problem : my computer crashed, PortableApps.com Opera Portable Edition was running.
When I restarted and tried to lauch it again, I got the error box :
"Une autre instance de Opera, Portable Edition est déjà en cours d'exécution. Veuillez fermer les autres instances de Opera, Portable Edition avant de lancer Opera, Portable Edition."
Problem is : there is no other instance running !
I tried to restore backups : I get the same error message on THIS computer but it works fine on another.
I really don't know what to do Sad
Any help would be welcome.

Task Manager, Fresh Install

If you open up task manager to the full process view, can you ensure there's no OperaPortable.exe running? If you try a temporary fresh install to your Desktop, does it work there?

The issue here is that it's using a Windows API to OpenMutex and CreateMutex to ensure it's not running. If Windows hard crashes and messes up some of its own files, it can impact this feature. I recall it happening to someone after a virus infection and it required either a Windows reinstall or restoring to a Restore Point.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Restore solved it

Thanks for coming back to me I was a bit desperate !
OK, checked task manager (after a few restarts that was highly improbable, but then... » same
Fresh install on the desktop » same
A few system checks (checked registry, checked every drive, ran an sfc /scannow that repared a few problems) » same
I had to restore my computer to before the crash (thankfully, I have a full daily backup of the system) and guess what, that solved it.
Not sure if restoring to a Restore Point would have been enough, but that would be the first thing to try (if you have one).
Thanks for the support.
