How to get a portable app to open a associated file type?

Windows 10 Pro x64

I have a portable version of PDF X-Change Editor (not from this site).

Most of my portable apps can be launched from a document by associating the document's file extension to open with the executable for the portable app.

So when I double click a document that is associated with the portable app, the app is launched with the document open.

But this one doesn't work. Double clicking the document opens the app, but not with the document open.

Any idea how I can get this to work? Maybe some kind of switch on the launch string for the file association? I just don't know enough about this to figure it out.

Thanks for any help.

Not possible without breaking their portability

Not necessarily

You normally can associate filetypes to the PAc-Launcher of the corresponding app. A simple right click on a pdf file => Open with => Choose another app => Scroll down beyond other options (maybe click "More apps" or something similar) => Look for another app on this PC => Navigate the file requester to the Launcher (PDF-XChangeEditorPortable.exe in this case) => ok should do the trick. Don't forget to check the "Always use this app to open .pdf files" if you want to associate them to the PDF X-Change Editor Launcher.

Reminder: This works with apps from this site here, as the PAc-Launcher passes arguments (the filename in this case) to the app it handles. Apps from other sites may not do this...
Don't associate the files to the PDFXEdit.exe in the App folder or otherwise you would break portability.
