When I select an html file and select Google Chrome in the "open with" menu, nothing happens. I think Windows tries to open it with the non-portable version, which I don't have installed. Is there any way to redirect it to the portable version?

You must open it with GoogleChromePortable.exe to use the portable version. You can select Choose Another App, More Apps, scroll down, then Look for another app on this PC. Then explore to and select GoogleChromePortable.exe.
