FF to FF ESR Automatically with FF 115 (Win7)

I read on Ghacks that "Mozilla plans to migrate Firefox Stable users on these three Windows versions to the Firefox ESR channel when Firefox 115 is released. This happens automatically and this special version of Firefox ESR will receive security updates until September 2024, its end of support date."

I'm running Win7 with a test install of FF Portable 114.0.2. When I install FF Portable 115.0.2 to that folder it remains regular FF Portable 115.0.2, not ESR, at least according to Help>About. Am I missing something? Will it continue to be regular FF Portable? Thanks.

Referring to Local

The article and the announcement are referring to a local install of Firefox. Mozilla is having 115 switch to ESR on legacy/unsupported Windows versions 7/8 as 116 will not support Windows 7/8 anymore.

I'll likely have Firefox Portable 116 include custom code to create a Firefox Portable ESR 115 install as it upgrades Firefox Portable 115 to 116 on Windows 7/8.

Clarifications

I understand, thanks for the clarification. I guess such custom modification will be valid only for Legacy version or activated only for the 7/8 systems.

Two Steps

It will likely be two steps. When 116 is released on Stable, I'll have the 116 installer automatically create a Firefox Portable ESR version based on it if it's running on a Windows 7/8 machine. That version can then be automatically updated by the platform. When ESR then moves on from 115, I'll have that installer automatically create a 115 Legacy version if it's running on a Windows 7/8 machine. I'll keep that legacy version updated as long as Mozilla does, just like I did with Firefox Portable Legacy 52.9.0 for Windows XP/Vista.

I can't access my extra profiles

I wish I'd known what updater would do . The updater should have notified me what would happen!

Now I can't access my 2ndprofiles - the message says download 115 legacy - that is already 'installed' by updater

How do I use my 2ndprofiles ?

Still There, Manually Adjust Folders

The second profiles are all still there, but the second profiles only work with Firefox Portable installed to the standard stable path with a directory of FirefoxPortable. To manually adjust your setup, rename your FirefoxPortable folder to FirefoxPortableModern. Then rename your FirefoxPortableLegacy115 folder to FirefoxPortable. The 2nd Profiles will all work again with Legacy 115. You won't be able to have the PA.c Platform automatically update FirefoxPortable or a similar issue will happen. You can have Firefox Portable update itself via its built in updater.
