I tried watching YouTube on Firefox, and each time I try to watch a video I'll get a message saying "Gah. Your tab just crashed."

It's possible that hardware video decoding is failing in your version of Wine. You could disable media.hardware-video-decoding.enabled in about:config to see if that makes a difference.
