My GoogleChromePortable won't update through the internal updater, through Settings> Help > About Chrome. It keeps posting an error that says updater failed to launch. All my other portables from PortableApps.com update perfectly, and I'm assuming this problem is Chrome's fault. BUT, I'm a happy camper, because John keeps updating the portable releases right on time. I no sooner saw the notice online that a new version of Chrome was available than I found an updated version on PortableApps.com that updated my GoogleChromePortable perfectly. Thank you (again), John T. Haller.
Google Chrome uses a service that can't work with the portable version. Firefox and Thunderbird work because of the way the updater is designed and we work with the publisher. You can update Google Chrome Portable via the PA.c Platform or manually: https://portableapps.com/support/portable_app#upgrading
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
It's a Google Chrome thing. Thank you, JTH.
To those who have none, even a little knowledge of computing seems like wizardry.
