Testing Ad Placement and Revenue

For a short time, you may see noticeably more ads on the site. This is occurring as an ad management firm is testing placements of ads across the site to see what works and what does not. I apologize for the inconvenience during this process. I'm attempting to see if recovering any of the 66% drop in ad revenue is possible with a different provider.

aggressive advertising

Why such aggressive advertising? Advertising discreetly is okay but overloaded with advertising is not at all. Pop-up windows, small videos about page content, blink-blink here and blink-blink there, that's why people use as-blocker and NoScript. And now on PortablesApps too!

Testing

Our new provider is in the testing phase, which means everything is turned on for many visitors. Some visitors will see some. Some will see others. We've had to move away from just the small Google Adsense ads and sticky ads due to the current crash in advertising revenue that's been happening worldwide the last few months. Our ad revenue fell 66% from the same time last year. I was hoping it was temporary and made up the difference with a PayPal loan against future donations, but it appears that this is permanent. So, I'm trying something else to keep from having to either shut things down or severely curtail what's available.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks for informing of the advertisement behaviour change

Was wondering about the more visible advertisement that has appeared.

Portableapps.com is 1 of 4 of my allow full advertisement sites because I use them frequently and have yet to donate in cash, so I donate in terms of my views and allowing advertisements.

Thank you, John for all the work on PortableApps.
