Why does the VLC app keep making me reinstall it whenever I want to open it?
I am also having troubles with opening up a recorded video with another player (I made sure to save it in the right/compatible format) and renaming video files. Any suggestions or advice for any of these issues?

We're going to need more info including "system details (OS version, 32 vs 64-bit), install path, new vs upgrade, etc." As well as what do you mean by "making me reinstall it". Please post the exact error or screen you see. Screenshots can be uploaded to IMGUR and linked from here.
