Hello,
Starting today, Im getting the following message when starting Chrome portable:
Can't update Chrome
Im running Chrome Portable: Version 119.0.6045.160 (Official Build) (32-bit) on Win10 Home 64-bit Ver: 1809
Things I tried:
- AdditionalParameters=--simulate-outdated-no-au="Tue, 31 Dec 2099 23:59:59 GMT", but it seems to get ignored or not even passed from the portable launcher to .exe
- Chrome Update Policy Registry entries
- Chrome Update Policy Registry entries WOW3264Node
Also note the 'Relaunch to update' message wont go away and stays there forever.
What's the root cause of this behaviour, since update checks and updates are disabled by design by the portable launcher ?
Why does the parameter simulate-outdated-no-au get ignored and has no effect at all ? It works on some earlier non portable Chrome installations I have.
Is there any way to get rid of it once and for all ?
Thanx in advance
jpapg
Hey ... I found it ... my bad ...
GoogleChromePortable.ini file was NOT in the same folder as GoogleChromePortable.exe.
As long as I placed it in the SAME folder AdditionalParameters were passed to the .exe normally and the annoyed message disappeared !!
The problem has been resolved and the topic can be considered a non issue.
Thanx
