Hi, I'm new to the portableapps.com community. I have been using portable applications for a few years but only recently learned there was a community. I found this site because I was looking for updates for my portable apps. Which leads me to my question -
Since you have such a well defined set of applications that are supported here is there an automatic updater or similar program which will go out to the net and see if any of your portable apps have updates available? I would love to see a feature like this if its not already in place (I haven't seen anything about it yet). Keep up the great work, I'm trying out quite a few new apps.

About the updater, there is currently no such thing, but John (the head honcho) is working on one (I believe). There is a manual updater called PortaInstall. I have not gotten it to work yet, but it has worked for others. I would try that for now.

We all are expecting a new release of the PortableApps Menu. This new Menu will probably include an update feature for all PortableApps.com-apps.

A few users from the PortableApps.com forums and myself are working on a program called Application Manager Portable. When we're done with it, it'll let you download and install new applications, and update currently-installed applications--both those hosted on PortableApps and third-party programs. Unfortunately, it's nowhere close to completion yet, but check back soon and maybe there'll be something for you to try out.
In the meantime, use PortaInstall; it was created by one of the AMP developers.
