When an update is performed, will portableapps re-enable "Clear History"? I just opened Librewolf to a blank session.
I read the disclaimer in the settings. I've been keenly aware that I must be sure to disable "Clear History" to maintain my session and history. We can see that I have "Remember Browsing and Download History" enabled. But now, 'Clear History when Librewolf closes" is selected. Why would I have both selected?
Not sure, but I also "believe" that I created the related about:config commands. If I did, they are no longer in effect.

EDIT: I have several profile versions of Librewolf using portableapps, but of course I don't use the at the same time. I have one LibreWolfPortable folder. The other profiles are backed up. When I want to use one of the others, I move it to the LibreWolfPortable folder in place of the one in there. All were working fine not to long ago.
I just moved one for testing. I knew when I moved it, it would be updated. Updating altered it's settings, as I described earlier, by re-enabling "Clear History". It also enabled 'Show Bookmarks Toolbar".
It also stopped recognizing my Chrome folder, even tho I have "toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets" still set to "true" in about:config.
I expect other settings, as yet unverified, were change as well.
Is there something that can be done?

Are you moving the full Data profile in and out or just the profile folder? You need the whole Data folder so it knows where it's moving from/to when it does.

I just tried this exercise once more.
First, I went to the backup folder, and manually launched it from there. The current session loaded, and my Chrome folder was recognized.
I then moved the entire contents to the default LibreWolfPortable folder, and opened the platform to do the update.
Again, after the update, it launched to a blank session, the cookies and history were set to delete, and the Chrome folder was not recognized, even tho toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets was set true. Who knows what else was changed as well.

Please try a fresh install of the current release I just updated. I removed the secondary launches with arguments feature when running in multiple instance mode as that caused issues on Firefox now.

How do I do "fresh install" when there is an already established PortableApps directory?
Typically, I would run/extract the contents of Platform_Setup_29.1.1.paf.exe, and replace their counterparts in my current "PortableApps.com Platform" directory, while leaving the already installed programs in it's "PortableApps" directory in place.

You can download the installer from the website and install it to your Desktop directory. Then move that directory around. Or rename that directory and move it to your PortableApps directory.

ok, I was a bit confused. I "think" I have it now?
I thought you were referring to updating the platform, but of course,the platform updates itself. Basically, if I unpack the latest Librewolf, I can move it into the current Librewolf folder, but still retain the profile, and settings?
Would the settings be in the profile, or PortableApps.com Platform\PortableApps\LibreWolfPortable\App\DefaultData\settings, or elsewhere?
I already tried it. Unsuccesfullly, in that I now retain the history and sessions, but some things I need to re-log into, and my CSS\Chrome folder is still not recognized, tho toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets is set it to "true".

Please try the publisher's portable zip to see if the feature works on its own and if you're placing the CSS\Chrome folder properly.

Let me verify. You mean from here https://librewolf.net/installation/windows/? I already have a working version of that. It works like it should. Are you advising me not to run Librewolf from within the platform at all? Or, do you want me to replace the contents of portableapps LibreWolfPortable directory with the complete contents of that? It structurally different.

You mention "placing the CSS\Chrome folder properly." I can successfully run any one of my Librewolf portableapps backups manually, directly from it's own folder. In all my other Librewolf portableapps backup installs, the Chrome folder resides in the profile, just as it does with Firefox. Are you saying, since the platform changes, it belongs elsewhere? I'm still waiting for the instructions on putting what where, which includes all things necessary to replicate a proper operation, in all aspects, Chrome and other settings.
For instance, I just renamed the LibreWolfPortable folder in order to prompt the fresh install of LibreWolfPortable using the platform. How would you proceed from here to get it to remember sessions, history, and have a working Chrome directory? I tried to replace the profile from one of my portableapps LIbrewolf backups, but It restarted with no session, history, and no css. From where to what do I import the other items to complete the transition?

I'm advising you to download the ZIP (not installer) from their site and see if it performs as you expect with the exact changes you want to make to it. And, in that unzipped app, to let me know where you're supposed to place the CSS\Chrome folder. Once you do, I can tell you where it should be in our directory structure. I'm not advising you to switch, or try to move things around, or use this instead. Just one thing at a time.

I know this will be a bit repetitive, but I want to make sure there is no misunderstanding of my explanation, as well as my Impressions.
In my previous post, I mentioned I have a working v123.01 version of the "ZIP". All css there works fine.
The same can be said for my backup Librewolf Portableapps versions, created when Librewolf was v117, which have had no problems until the recent update. I can still run any of those without any issue from their backup locations.
However, as of today, If I move any one of those backups into the Librewolf Portableapps directory, the update that the platform then performs breaks things. I don't wan to assume anything, but v123.01 works ok outside of the platform.
The Chrome folder is in the profile directory just as it has always been with the Portableapps version, as well as all other iterations of Firefox and Librewolf
There are also a css related folder and file that is move to the N:\PortableApps.com Platform\PortableApps\LibreWolfPortable\App\LibreWolf diredtory from "firefox-scripts", https://github.com/xiaoxiaoflood/firefox-scripts/tree/master

As with all apps, anything you place within the App directory will be wiped on upgrade outside of very specific carve outs. In your case, the items you're talking about adding to defaults within LibreWolfPortable\App\LibreWolf will be wiped as you upgrade. This has applied to every version of LibreWolf Portable since it was released. The only things preserved are plugins, searchplugins, and distribution, just as with Firefox. If you want to add manual configuration changes to LibreWolfPortable\App\LibreWolf, you will need to re-add them after each upgrade. You will need to do the exact same thing with Firefox Portable.

ok, I give up. Clearly, I don't have the wherewithal to understand this stuff. No problem. I'll just have to do without Librewolf portableapps.
If you don't mind, I'll wrap things up with a few thoughts. I just opened Firefox portableapps. It has already been updated. It's pretty much configured the same as Librewolf, but has none of problems that are present with Librewolf, i.e. all the css works.
The same can be said about the Librewolf independent portable "zip". Works fine after those items are placed into the LibreWolf directory, and after browser updates, those items remain in the LibreWolf directory. No need to restore them.
The Librewolf settings reversals resulted in sessions and history erased after update. You can restore those settings, but for permanence, the overerides must be done in about:config, not in the settings. But that doesn't restore the lost sessions and history.
I posted the image of what results when I place those two items back into the LibreWolf diredtory. The same items that are currently working in Firefox portablepps, now break Librewolf.

How are you updating Firefox Portable and LibreWolf Portable? Using the internal updater of Firefox instead of updating the whole thing won't update the FirefoxPortable.exe launcher, so portability issues will arise as Firefox changes. The internal LibreWolf updater is untested in our portable configuration.
Also, I'm not sure what that small picture of a few directories is supposed to show. You've posted it a few times.

I really love the Portableapps platform. It's certainly one of my favorite tools, for numerous reasons, certainly not the least of which is the fact that it saves me the chore of having to do perform updates on my own. That's huge! I launch the platform, and "everything" is updated. The only way I would ever invoke the internal updater would be in a diagnostic situation.

I've updated the installer file and directory preservation in today's 123.0.1-1 release to keep the default directory and the config.js files you're adding to the LibreWolf directory specifically. Give it a try.

Did you test the browser after placing the file and folder into the Librewolf directory? After the updates, I had to reinstate all the Chrome related settings/overrides. So far, so good. Then I moved the file and folder into the Librewolf directory, which broke LIbrewolf as before.

I also regret to say I have another similar behavior to report. For the past 2-3 weeks I've been having problems with losing my Firefox sessions and history, but this time it turns out that portableapps Ccleaner was responsible.
I had been using a stand alone Ccleaner portable version for years until I switched to portableapps. I would never use Ccleaner to interact with Firefox in any way, and that's the way I had it set up in portableapps.
As it turns out I just went to check the Ccleaner portableapps settings. Numerous Firefox options there were enabled there, including delete sessions and history. I still have to check the other settings.

I have no idea what you're trying to do with these screenshots. I don't use or support the files you mentioned. I was just trying to make it so it preserved the files you wanted as you upgrade the browser.

Ccleaner wiped out all my sessions and history in every LIbrewolf and Firefox profile, including backups, except for the LIbrewolf portable stand alones, before I tracked it down the cause. I can't recover what was lost.
I don't know if it means anything, but the LIbrewolf portable stand alone is listed as v123.01-1
