More Details

Please provide more details including "system details (OS version, 32 vs 64-bit), install path, new vs upgrade, etc."

By false start, do you mean you click it in the PA.c Platform and it doesn't come up?

continuing with this thread,

continuing with this thread, my install of it also acts similarly. i attempt to launch program, splash up comes up, and then disappears with nothing else happening. i have tried compatibility mode, and run as admin. it will not start from portableapp launcher, or from exe.
i have win 11 23H2. 64 bit. portableapps installed normally to C:
mine was a new install of keepnote.

Thanks, Test

Thanks for the additional details. I'd wager it needs specific Visual C Runtimes that aren't installed. I can't test at the moment (jury duty), but if you don't mind, would you please open up your KeepNotePortable\App\KeepNote directory and running keepnote.exe directly? That will let you see the generated error.

EDIT: It works without issue on my clean Windows 11 VM with all updates, so someone who has the issue, please do the above test.

No Error?

It started up without an error do you mean? What's the full path you're running it from? Example: D:\My Apps\KeepNotePortable\KeepNotePortable.exe

it started and had no words

it started and had no words or errors displayed. (that is not including the top where it has the File, Edit, Search, etc. dropdowns)
C:\PortableApps\KeepNotePortable\KeepNotePortable.exe (this is where the regular exe is)
C:\PortableApps\KeepNotePortable\App\KeepNote\Keepnote.exe (this is the alternate start you gave me for error message)

Fine Here

Installing and running from C:\PortableApps\KeepNotePortable works fine here for me on Windows 11 64-bit. Do you have other apps installed within C:\PortableApps and are they working correctly? Would you please try temporarily installing a new copy to your Desktop directory (C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\KeepNotePortable) and seeing if that works? Any antivirus or anything that may be interfering?

yes, i have about 20 other

yes, i have about 20 other apps in there that work fine. i did the temp install of port.app on desktop, and it still didn't open. as for AV, i do have a couple of layered apps, so i rebooted in safe mode to ensure they were not interfering with keepnote, and it wouldn't open in safe mode either.
i have another portable app that is not from portableapps in portableapps, lol, (that was a tongue twister). it's called pachmypc. it shows up with the other apps and has always worked fine. i don't suppose that would mess anything up.

i didn't mean for this to take up too much of your time. it's not that big a deal. you said it worked on your system, so that confirms to me that it does infact work, and that a window update didn't kill it. this allows me to play around with it to figure out what particularity of my system is hindering it. i'll try to remember to post here again if i find the problem.
