I have java installed locally within my PC however both javascript and java applets do not work. This happens by the by the scripted/applet section just not appearing at all. What is wrong exactly and what can i do to fix it?

On a last note all your portable programs are great and hope that it will continue for the unforeseeable future

?

Javascript on a Windows box is run by the windows scripting engine and has nothing to do with Java.

I assume your issue is with a web browser since you say "the scripted/applet section just not appearing at all." Appear where? In the browser window?

What does this have to do with PortableApps or portable applications?

My crystal ball is in the shop so my ability to read your mind is diminished somewhat.

Buddha,

Buddha,

Allow me to assist while your ball is in the shop Smile

"What does this have to do with PortableApps or portable applications?" It has to do with FFP.

The poster is saying that even though he has Java installed on his local machine when he uses FFP to go to a site with Java applets on it they do not run.

He is also saying that JavaScript is not functioning as well.

He wants to know if anybody knows why this might be the case and if they could suggest away to get Java and JavaScript working in his FFP

Duh!

I forgot I was in the FFP section. Mah bad. I normally don't venture down into the application specific forums.

Check settings

I cannot address the question of Java directly. I do not allow Java to run in FFP. I do not know how FFP interacts with Java on the host machine.

Could you check the following settings:

Tools->Options->ContentTab
Enable JavaScript
Enable Java

Also could you be using the NoScript Extention/AddOn ?
It can disable JavaScript and Java.
