PortableApps.net

I found this site a while ago, maybe a couple months, well, a couple weeks ago, I went back and noticed they had an Applications Page up. And they list almost all of the apps availible from this site, they also mention that PStart is from this site, but it's not, right?

So, although they may have created some fancy USB program logo's, I don't think you, John, would want your Applications advertised and download from a site that also plans to host MS Offics Portable, Norton Portable, MSN Portable, and some other closed source programs. It doesn't look like there download section is up, but I think they may plan to host PortableApps.com apps in there own download section with closed source, payed programs.

So, just mentioning that. I dunno, check it out and see.

Well it seems

Well it seems the site carries illegal modified copies of Propriety Software but also contains some of Portableapps.com apps (But at least it mentions where it comes from)

But...

I knew that. Blum

I just wanted to let John know, because like you said they do plan to host illegal modified copies of propriety software, it looks, along with this site's wonerful apps.

I just don't think it would look good on PortableApps.com.

Notice all their downloads

Notice all their downloads are "at" "http://download/".

Thoughts

I'm an avid supporter of warez as a financial bridge and think that they are simply a result of grade school economics. Uh no I mean of course we should take that site down, it's encouraging piracy. (:

I'm not sure how much trademarks cost in the US, but John might want to invest.

Otherwise, I really don't see how this half-built site is blaarrgh choke gasp completely destroying John's hard-earned reputation so I suggest we just leave it alone. Like a mushroom it will either wither away quickly or attract the attention of the local pest eradication department.

PS: Why not redirect portableapps.org here as well instead of leaving it lying. It's no cost and pits you against them 2 TLDs to one.

Well.

I'd think portableapps.org would be a non-profit organization, so John probally wouldn't be able to accept donations, and he'd be paying more money for an extra domain which is pointless I think.

Warez? Kidding? How but open-source? Problem solved.
