I have a Twinmos X4 flash disk.I downloaded the lite suite on a windows 2000 pro PC. I tried installing the Lite Suite it proceeded until a error message saying 2 or 3 files are corrupted so installation cannot continue. I redownloaded the suite 2 times but still I get the error. I suspected that my flash drive is defective so I tried reformatting it. Then I installed the standalone version of audacity(not portable apps) on the flash drive. It worked ok.so I think there is nothing wrong with my flash disk.
I again redownloaded and installed the portable audacity. this time I get an error message that "windows had generated errors and will terminate this application". I was thinking that this flash drive is not compatible with portable apps.
Then I tried installing on the flash drive using my dell laptop with vista home basic on it. This time the suite is WORKING OK!!I have even added OpenOffice with no problem at all.
so my question is: IS installing portable apps using windows 2000 professional not ok?

yes I saw that but that patch is AFTER installing the suite. My problem is DURING installation of the suite.
It's just files being copied to a drive. A device doesn't have to be 'compatible' to be able to install the Suite. *ANY* device that shows up as a drive letter is compatible. However, if it's corrupting files, then there is an issue with either the device or the PCs USB ports. It is absolutely *NOT* a software issue.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
works fine on my Windows2000.
I just made sure to install the right version (can't find it now, sorry)
