Been a portableapps user for years. Have recently moved from outlook to thunderbird local install. I have several imap inboxes and total size is about 3,000GB+. I am thinking of using portable thunderbird but don't know if portableapps platform have an upper size limit where its functionality may deteriorate. Does anyone know?
The Platform doesn't really care how big the apps get. The built in simple backup solution won't likely be able to handle files that big, but I'm guessing you'd have a more robust solution if you're archiving that level of email. (For comparison, my 20 years of Thunderbird email files across 6 email accounts totals 16GB... though I don't save everything like spam and ads and such).
It would be more of a possible Thunderbird issue if there is one, but I doubt there would be due to the way it stores email.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks John. My business is in my second year already has 2GB of emails. Emails will grow very rapidly as my client base grows. Can't export email backup anymore so I just backup the whole profile folder to my NAS. Cheers.
