Hi guys!
As of the SUMo shut down I was searching for a good potable alternative.
The search here in APPS didn't got me further so I started this thread.
The search for 'updates' in APPS didn't helped, only other topics found.
Please say if I oversaw something and what do your recommend!
If there is already an alternative here I recommend to put a hint in the sumo article in bold and maybe post a short one as a news so all get it by rss!
Thanx!
P.S.:Edited two times as couldn't find a save draft or something option. Saving to don't lost by problems?

SUMo alternative
UCheck is a good option for local installs but there isn't a portable alternative at this point.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I've found portable versions of UCheck in "Other downloads" button (for 32-bit and 64-bit) at its homepage.
Unfortunately, they're not in PortableApps format and I don't know how to make them.

i don't know what's all about the portable downloads from other sites or the developer directly.
i'm not so much into the topic but it would be important to know the differences!
maybe we can explain it in my thread to this topic!
and also put a short summary of the versions or portable levels.
thanx!

I will porpose a tech site to add alternatives on thier SUMo download page as I cannot search well by them. There is only a unspecific category with a few hundred apps.
If I understand it well John said there is no portable alternative.
I don't know how (much) portable the versions from UCheck developer are and how good in comparsion to SUMo's power. SUMo was very powerful, supported or recognized also not so popular apps.
I will keep this topic in mind as I need to find a few apps at this time.
I hope John keeps the search for a good portable alternative to SUMo also in mind.
Thanx!

as they don't reacted on the contact form and mail I tryied to call the staff but no success yet.
but found on another site 'IObit Software Updater'.
but the free version is using memory permanently and has some limits.
no idea if we should pursue to get it portable.
it's an idea.
any experiences with it?!
thanx!
