Hey John (and other developers if they're there - don't mean to slight you!), I love this work that you're doing - so much, in fact, that I'm trying to convert my wife to carrying the PortableApps suite with her to work and other places. I got the full PortableApps.com suite and put it on her memory stick.
I'm getting the "won't open on first launch" problem with Portable OpenOffice.org 2.0.1 - the splash dialog shows up and the progress bar moves to completion, but the app never opens. I saw that there is a patch for that which is supposed to be unzipped to a particular directory. Unfortunately, the way the suite is laid out, there are TWO directories that seem to fit the description, one in Apps and one in Data.
I guessed that the Apps one was the right choice and unzipped the "settings" folder there, so now it's sitting with the "openoffice" and "PortableOpenOfficeCode" folders - but I find that OO.o still won't launch!
Any suggestions?
Thanks for everything that you're doing! My iPod shuffle thanks you too!
Unzip it to PortableApps\Data\PortableOpenOffice. It's a default profile for OO.o so it goes in data.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Should have known that I would guess wrong the first time.
Maybe there should be a clarifying message on the OO.o page, near the patch instructions, for the people who have the suite rather than the standalone OO.o install?
Thanks for the speedy reply - I'll try it as soon as I can get my hands back on the flash drive!
