When starting Filezilla portable I get the message
Error, Can't parse 'Filezilla.xml', the file may be corrupt.
For this session, the registry will be used to store the settings.
I have tried exporting my settings (Filezilla offers a f filename of Filezilla settings.xml), but even if I change it to just Filezilla.xml, whether I put it in the PortableApps\Filezilla directory (as suggested by the help file), or in PortableApps\Filezilla\Data\Settings, I still get the same error.
My questions are:
a) Shouldn't the portable version save the settings in this file by default anyway?
b) Failing that, could the export command export the settings to the correct filename and path for it to use when restarted?
c) How do I get Filezilla to pick up my settings from a settings file (i.e. what IS the correct path and filename to export to, and is there any reason why that shouldn't work?)
Thanks
Julie
FileZilla stores its settings in the file FileZilla.xml. This file is kept in FileZillaPortable\Data\settings when FileZilla Portable is not running and moved to FileZillaPortable\App\filezilla while it is running. It uses the same format as local FileZilla. Be sure you're using the most recent version of FileZilla Portable.
Side Note: I don't know if you're using the 3.0 Beta builds locally or not, but I don't think they're compatible with 2.x.

Hi John
I'm using version 2.2.32, just updated from 2.2.29, both downloaded from the Portable Apps website. I have always had the same problem ever since first running portable Filezilla.
I have also used non-portable version 2.2.30 of Filezilla (possibly before I started using the portable version, but I can't be absolutely sure). This is still installed on the computer where I run Filezilla Portable.
Filezilla Portabel is currently NOT running, and my X:\PortableApps\FileZillaPortable\Data\settings directory contains
FileZilla settings old.xml
FileZilla settings.xml
FileZilla.xml.backup
FileZilla.xml.backup2 and
settings_readme.txt
The only file apart from the executable in X:\PortableApps\FileZillaPortable is help.html.
X:\PortableApps\FileZillaPortable\App contains the AppInfo directory and filezilla directory, plus a readme.txt file (this is still with it NOT running).
Nothing changes when FileZilla Portable IS running. I still have all the same files in each directory.
I'm running it under Windows XP Pro.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Julie
Ditch all the files in your settings directory and FileZilla.xml in the directory that FileZilla.exe is in and start from scratch. It's probably starting from one of your backups if it can't find another XML file. And whatever files it's using is corrupted.
Also, be sure the directories are writeable.

Hi John
I found the corrupt filezilla.xml file in \PortableApps\FileZillaPortable\App\filezilla (I had previously been looking in \PortableApps\FileZillaPortable - where the Filezillaportable.exe file is).
Thanks
