Splash Screen Save Settings

I'm sure this has been asked before too, but what settings does John use to save his splash images. I know it uses 96dpi, I'm just wondering if he uses the highest quality available or another setting. I want to create my own splashes, and a splash template for Have Some Patience's apps, not including the PA logo, but none of them come out as clear as John's, they all have lots of aliasing. Thanks for any help.

The splash screens

are compiled into the launchers.
I did some myself and never had problems. Maybe you look over at the NSIS pages for the splash screen plugin specs.

I know they are compiled

I know they are compiled into the launchers and I know how to do that. I meant the initial save of the JPG file (it's in the PortableSource folder for all the apps). I was using average quality and they turned out really crappy. I tried boosting the quality and they ended up taking up twice the space of John's.

Yay!

Yes, splash template too, finally, they won't be my crappy splashes or randomness. Blum Biggrin I was thinking about that today too, thanks so much. What I have done for my previous ones is save the image as a bitmap file (usually in paint) and then open it in the GIMP and export it to jpeg at 100, and they seem clear to me, maybe I don't know what clear it though.

alright, i'll use highest

alright, i'll use highest quality. it will increase the file size a bit, i'll check out the difference in size vs. quality and decide which can be sacrificed (just a little bit)

Just curious. Can you use

Just curious.

Can you use upx to compress it after you've compiled it?

In my experience some

In my experience some launchers don't "launch" after being UPX compressed. The launchers are so small to begin with I just quit compressing them.

No

It ruins the built in CRC check. You can do it with a line in the file, but I never got it to work.
