Portable Opera (already exists?)

Opera is a web browser much like Firefox, but with some better features.

Opera@USB 9.21 exists here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Internet/Browsers/Windows-Portable-Applications-OperaUSB.shtml

Can we get this added to the PortableApps website at least if not the Suite as well? (I didn't create it but I do use Opera and prefer it to Firefox)

Works with PortableApps.com Menu

Just install it to a directory like PortableApps\OperaUSB or something. So the menu can pick it up.

Opera definitely won't be included in the suite... nor can it be. Opera is closed source / proprietary, so it could not be hosted at SourceForge where all the open source apps like the full suite are hosted. At current download levels, if I were hosting the downloads on our current webhost, bandwidth costs would exceed $250,000 a year.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

John,

May I take this moment to suggest that you should offer paid support?

Oops, too late.

Anyways, it would cover some of those bandwidth (or other) costs...

Portabilize a BitTorrent client and make that the only available direct download from this site.

Bad idea

Torrents are blocked at many public and company sites. Torrents are good for VERY popular files but very slow for those less popular (like a portable app from 2 weeks ago.)

Besides, there are already portable torrent clients like Bit Comet. In an earlier thread, someone commented that it has prerequisities, but did not reply to my question as to what those prereqs are. I have had no problem using Bit Comet on several WinXP Home and Pro machines when not blocked.

FYI...

FYI..the links on Softpedia didn't work for me..one was in a different language (not English) and wouldn't let me download the .zip, and the other site let me download the .zip but it was the "international" version, and the archive was corrupted. I downloaded my copy from http://www.dl.la/opera921en.zip and it works pretty good.

Try this one - gives you

Try this one - gives you more opportunities since Tor and Privoxy are already included like in Xerobank (the former Torpark). To speed it up, Tor/Privoxy can simply be turned off...
