Whenever I try to rewind or fast forward via the slider bar, VLC resets itself and starts playing my video from the beginning.... I've checked the forums and not found anything....
got any ideas?

Forums at vlc cause its not a portable specific problem. You will have a bigger chance to get help there.

Some files can't be searched within. Usually FLVs, which isn't a true, standardized video format anyway. But, as mentioned, this is not specific to the portable package, this is a general VLC question.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
