This has happened a couple of times now, but I have opened Thunderbird 2 (updated now to 2.0.0.4) and have found that I have one months worth of emails missing.
Is it possible to recover this emails? These emails are very important to my work, and I need to be able to read them.

Check out the ThunderbirdPortable/Data/profile/Mail folder. If there is anything in there, you might be able to recover it. Search google or mozillazine for "recover a corrupted Thunderbird profile" or similar.
