Helloo and thanks for a great PA!
I'm wondering if i can update Portable Firefox v1.5 to v1.5.0.1 with the 'Check for updates' dialogue? Will it remain Portable Firefox and everything as such or become/convert to the normal Firefox?
Cheers

Just be sure there's at least 40MB free on your portable device or FF will corrupt itself (due to a bug in FF).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
John is definitely correct.
I just let it update...it failed on the first try and then said it was going to do the complete update, which worked.
May be taking up roughly another 1 MB of space with whatever was changed, but not positive.
Does the v1.5.0.1 update replace any UPX-compressed files with newer yet uncompressed versions?
If so, what UPX command-line options would be neccessary to repack the updated files under the same configuration that the replaced files were compressed?
Portable FF is no longer UPXed to enable compatibility with FF auto-update's partial updates. Which, for some inexplicable reason, didn't work right with 1.5.0.0 to 1.5.0.1.

would there be any problem upgrading to 1.5.0.1 with the portablefirefox from the portable apps suite?
Go right ahead.

The partial update failed for me also, but after the full update came down it installed flawlessly. Thank you again John for making my life so much easier!
confirmed. partial update fails, full update works.
Hi, How can I tell PFF to not upgrade to 1.5.0.1?
Don't get me wrong. I do want the upgade, but not now. I'm worry about extension compatibility.
I have severals versions of firefox in different plataforms, and I've learned that having the lastest always brings me broken firefoxes. I use pff as many of you for school, I need a stable firefox there. That means I have to hold updates of extensions until I have tested them and make sure they don't interferene with others in a regular firefox install. In other works, I have old extensions that probally aren't ready for 1.5.0.1 on my pff that I'm sure they work all together. I would hate to undust my old stable 1.0.7 pff.
I tried to start pff in safemode, but it still wants to upgrade. Thanks for your help
go to Tools-> Options -> advanced -> "update tab" and disable updates on firefox and extensions as needed. This is the place for configuration of the updates.

That was my idea when I went into safemode, to turn off the updates. However, I think it's too late to do so. Even in safemode it wants to upgrade. I can't go to Tool->Opts... because the installer pop out before pff opens
I'm running PFF off my MyDoc folder (easier for now) so I updated just fine. I was like "uh-oh" but it worked. Nice Planning.
Sometimes you need a little genius, and some duct tape.
The last 'broken' extension (gmail notifier) was upgrade in the afternoon. I'm a happy pff 1.5.0.1 onwer. Thanks for you time guys.
Hi, I'm stuck with the update.
The update process is paused as you see in the screen below

How can I resume?
Thankx!
You'll need to kill Firefox as it's probably hung.

Uhmm, I tried to fully reboot the system, but the proble is still present: any idea?
Here is the solution to the problem I had: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=2077959
I had not been able to install my netcraft anti-phishing toolbar, but after doing the 1.5.0.1 update, it was identified as not working with this version and now it works fine.
I guess sometimes we get lucky...
