can portableapps work in linux

what i want to do is to be able to use a flash drive with portableapps on either a windows,a mac or a linux machine. Do i need to make an executable file(s) of some sort?would i need put it on the flash drive
if possible i want it to automatically execute on its own

But you can use most USB drives with a linux but only to transfer files. PAM and the portableapps on this site can not actually be executed. But you can have portable linux which is the actual operating system run off the USB drive.

Yes, with Wine

The core pieces (PortableApps.com Menu and PortableApps.com Backup) are both designed to run under Wine just as they do under Windows. Most of the other apps will run quite well under Wine as well. See the Application Compatibility page for a quick overview of what apps work within Wine.
