Upon Install No Apps Work?

Howdy All,

Looking forward to using this great program but every time I install it on my 8GB flash drive it seems to install fine but nothing will run. I just get the quick flash of the DOS window and then it closes, that is it. I just downloaded the program again to see if perhaps the last one was corrupt. It is at 51% thus far so we will see but last time it would not autorun nor would it if I clicked on the .exe.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers!

If a Command Prompt or quote-on-quote "DOS window" apppears

then the apps are corrupt.

Soo...I assume they are

Soo...I assume they are corrupt upon install vs. downloading the program twice and having the same instance happen each time. Any clue why it might be corrupted every time? Had no issues with other programs n my stick so I am curious. Cheers for the reply.

Maybe an

Antivirus program?
To be sure that you have the right and unaltered exe, check the md5sums.

You think

it could be my AV program causing install issues? The version I am using is right off their site, unaltered. The full 90mb one. Should I try the lite instead or?

No

I meant that maybe it searches for a virus and "finds" one (sometimes we have false positives here).
Another thing would be to try downloading it on an other PC/network as maybe there could be something (I for example couldn't download stuff from Ryans website at work...).

Mmmm...

possible I suppose. Just on my home PC here, not at work. I did try it on my girlfriend's PC and same issue occurs. Perhaps it hates my flash drive?

Try

installing it to your Desktop.
If it works fine, but doesnt work fine of the USB, maybe your USB filesystem is damaged???

Ah I did

install it to my desktop and then dragged it over onto my USB drive. Works perfectly now! Only FF will not, just flashes the black command prompt and that's it. Everything else seems perfect. Only issue I am getting now is every time I disconnect the drive, all my saved info is gone. So I have to set up Gaim and Thunderbird all over again. Any ideas on how to get it to save the info? Cheers

command prompt = corrupt

If you attempt to run a Windows program life FirefoxPortable.exe and it flashes a command prompt, that means the executable is corrupt. It's sounding like you have a hardware problem with your device. If it works on your local PC but then fails on the device, it is NOT a software problem at all. It is a hardware one.
