pFF failing name lookups?

I have been trying to use pFF on a system at work, but have run in to a problem that has me stumped. I have FF installed previously, but had to remove it because applications may not be installed on work computers. I got my boss to OK my using FF, provided I could do it without installing it. Naturally, I already knew about pFF when I approached him about this, so I just popped my USB key into the system and started up pFF. When it loads, I can not connect to any sites, because name lookups always fail. I'm not at the system now to give the exact error, but I will post that when I get to work tonight. I do remember it being something along the lines of "bleh.meh.domain.xxx could not be found" for any site I try to access. The application works fine at home, and as noted above, FF when installed worked fine. Just pFF is having a problem. It doesn't matter if I run from a local directory or my USB key.

I haven't tried doing an nslookup from a command prompt and surfing via web address to see if that works, so I suppose that's the next step. Other than that, can anyone give any recommendations on how to get this working?

Thanks.

Proxy

Most likely, you need to configure your proxy to work at the office. Check IE's settings (Tools - Internet Options - Connections - LAN Settings) and make those same entries in Portable FF.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thank you. I forgot to

Thank you. I forgot to mention - our site doesn't use a proxy. We have firewall rules to block certain sites for http traffic and many application ports (FTP and IRC, for example), but otherwise, nothing stands in the way.

Poor dumb me. The site

Poor dumb me. The site implemented a proxy last month. No wonder it worked with FF installed in December, but not with pFF now. I have since updated my proxy. Sorry to post incorrect info. Thanks for the help.
