strange action with Mozilla Firefox® ESR, Portable Edition
Version 128.8.0 for Windows 7 x64, English
I found my 115.15.0 esr (64-bit) was saying message about updating due to need to verify extensions....
so I downloaded the Version 128.8.0 as above, and started that..
nothing seemed to happen, but now my 115.15.0 esr (64-bit)
is now having no problem with 'verifying extensions'...

You'll need to install Legacy 115 to continue using Firefox for another week or so. It's the only thing that will work on Windows 7 still but is being dropped this month. https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox-portable-legacy-115

No, it's not being dropped yet, as good Mozilla decided to extend the support for the Firefox 115 ESR, at least until September 2025.
