Have Portable FF - v 1.5

Here at work we go through a proxy as such I get a error:

Is there a way around this?
What do I need?

Proxy server

Does your workplace allow Internet Explorer to access the web? I had similar trouble and dug into the Internet options tab and discovered the proxy address, which in my case ended in .....proxy.pac. This is the sort of thing you might be looking for.If you find such an address then you need to go into firefox, tools, options, general, connection settings and fill this address into the appropriate place. I am not an expert and this may not be any help to you, but I thought I would try and help.
Good luck.

Maybe a little Off_Topic.

Talking about Proxies.....Does anyone know if the Switchproxy extension works for pFF 1.5? I have had problems, and I would like to know if others can shed light on it or comment on work-arounds. This extension would allow me to switch easily between my different work environments quickly....

Yes

I've used it more than once.

Still buggy for me.

I have had a quick look around and I found out a few things....

1) It appears to be an "orphan extension" and no longer updated.

2) Two versions exist around....scorpiondb version and the extensionsmirror version

3) Both seem buggy for some (like me) and not for others (like John)

4) Some guy has repacked these two versions and "kept the best of each" to form a new version he calls 1.3.4.2..... which for me is now working very well. Find it at this Extensionmirror forum.

Make sure to have version 1.3.7 for Firefox 1.5+

Make sure to have SwitchProxy version 1.3.7 for Firefox 1.5+ (earlier versions wont allow you to manually add entries or automatically import entries without producing an error)

http://extend.flock.com/details/switchproxy

You may need to remove and recreate the list of proxies to eliminate errors.

SwitchProxy 1.4

There is a new version of switchproxy on the mozilla website, v1.4
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/125/

This version works fine for firefox v1.5 (and thunderbird too).

ProxyButton

I used to use SwitchProxy but a few months ago changed over to using ProxyButton. I strongly recommend giving it a try.

From the official webpage:

But we already have that thing. Why do you need another project?
That's because I don't like the idea to have a whole huge toolbar for a such simple task as switching proxy. One button on the main toolbar is enough for me as I prefer to have more space for content. So here it is - just a simple button.

SwitchProxy have a button too

SwitchProxy can do exactly the same thing.
When you choose to personalize the interface of firefox, you can put a button to switch between proxy you have defined.
There was a problem with this button at the time of firefox 1.5 release but v1.4 is now ok.
So, as you can hide the "huge toolbar", you've got the same result Wink
