Cannot open FF after stopping update

As it has done before, FF started updating despite all settings against it. I interrupted it by pulling out the memory stick, but now it would not launch nagging about creating a new profile. I DO NOT WANT ANY UPDATES!!! They always carry unwanted changes forcing users to waste time restoring their settings if it's possible at all! We're aware of security risks - please respect our choices!

Sorry for the rant...What do i do now? I'm afraid to create a new profile as it might change something. How do I restore the current v.105 and stop updates once and for all? I love FF portable, no other browser comes close and I would hate to switch...
Thank you

ps this is the error message “Using an older version of Firefox can corrupt bookmarks and browsing history already saved to an exiting Firefox profile. To protect your information, create a new profile for this installation of Firefox.”

It looks like the profile is still there...

Ignored

Turning off updates as a setting is ignored in Firefox 105.x. You can prevent updates using a policies.json file placed within App\Firefox\distribution and App\Firefox64\distribution. This would likely be the AppAutoUpdate entry https://mozilla.github.io/policy-templates/#appautoupdate

Your current install is likely corrupt. Please first make a backup of it. Then scan your drive for errors. Then you can install Firefox 105.0.3 over itself to fix any corruption in Firefox Portable itself: https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Firefox%2C...

Your profile could be corrupt. Restore from a backup if it is.

None of this is supported or recommended. Firefox 105 is horrendously out of date (almost 3 years) and is wide open security vulnerability-wise.

As always, your quick replies are greatly appreciated!

I'm not well versed in all of this so will need more detailed directions...Is there any way to open it asap as I need it tonight? Thanks again!

Backup, Fix Errors, Install

1. Backup everything on the drive by copying everything from it locally or to another external drive.

2. Fix any errors on the drive by right-clicking it in Explorer, selecting Properties, selecting the Tools tab, then clicking Check within the Error Checking section.

3. Download Firefox Portable 105.0.3 in the language you use from the link above and install it over your current install using the Standalone upgrade method: https://portableapps.com/support/portable_app#upgrading

OK, I'll do it tomorrow

I copied and saved my profile then clicked on create new profile. That got me a message that a new version could not be installed - local FF, not portable. Thank you for helping!

nothing works

I followed your instructions, but the new legacy 102 installer did not find the old one. I copied old profile to Profiles in Data - no luck. Only wiped out version new starts with a nag to update. All my PWs etc are stored in the old version and unusable so i can't access any sites without them. I deleted a file "update locked" - no change. My old version was 102.5 ESR.
Please reply asap, thanks

Manually

You have to manually select where the install is. It won't find it automatically unless you have it installed to the recommended location of X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable (where X is your drive letter).

Then you have to manually create that file I told you about above in the location I mentioned before you run it, otherwise it'll immediately ask to update.

I am done...

Installed, deleted and reinstalled new 115 ESR 3 times first it went to C:, then I picked the right drive, then into old FF ESR files to no avail. The olfd one is still not found and the new one is clean even though it had my old profile before. Now I don't know where the profile is as it did not create the same directory - just the app in the old folder...At least this version did not send the nag...
How do I recover my info now?
