On trying to update PortableApps.com_Platform from installed VERSION 30.0.4 Microsoft Defender Antivirus detects
PUATorrent:Win32/QBitTorrent,
see at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/threats/malware-encyclopedia-descri....
Both setup executables
* PortableApps.com_Platform_Setup_30.1.paf.exe
* PortableApps.com_Platform_Setup_30.1_UpdateFrom_30.0.2_OrLater_ONLY.paf.exe
are blocked on Download, so Installation / Upgrade is not possible.
Is this a false positive?
Or is PortableApps.com_Platform really infected/equipped with QBitTorrent feature?
Looks like this may have been a short term false positive. I'm not seeing it now.

OK, i will give it some more tries
I'm experiencing the same with Microsoft Defender blocking the download attempted by the updater as well as a direct download of the latest version, per the recommendation in https://portableapps.com/supprt/platform#manualupdate. Download detected as being/containing QBitTorrent.
Initial attempt to download was around 8:20 AM GMT-4, 9/29/2025. Attempted multiple times at various times in various manors (different browsers, attempting (and failing) to tell MS Defender the file is fine and to just continue, etc.) up until around 9:30 AM. All downloads blocked.
System: Windows 11 Enterprise v24H2 (build 26100.4946)
Attempted manual downloads via latest version of Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome.
Not able to update as the installer is detected as a 'potentially unwanted app' and removed.
same here - none of the downloads working - even cannot compare the hash..
It shows as clean in VirusTotal in everything including Defender: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/452d481bfa25a46bb1e5eb8f63a4c6557d6d...
I just updated from 30.0.4 to 30.1 without issue on a fully up to date install of Windows 11 with Security intelligence version 1.437.212.0 and virus definitions updated to 9/9/2025 8:12AM. Scanning with this version of Windows Security shows no issues with the 30.1 installer or the update package.
Please update your definitions to the latest version.
