Dosbox staging instead of Dosbox?

DOSBOX seems to be dead and there are no further updates since years.
Dosbox staging instead is updated frequently

Differences?

I think I'm gonna release one of the forks as a new app. Keep old school DOSBox as well. DOSBox-X seems to still have compatibility with older Windows systems and 32-bit. DOSBox Staging is Windows 8 64-bit and later only. Any folks have experience with either/both?

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Brief test & review

DOSBox Staging:

  • Intel/AMD & ARM architectures supported.
  • 64 bit only.
  • Win 8 and above (legacy versions available).
  • ¿Full OSes emulation?
  • Focuses on old software and hardware compatibility with modern computers.

DOSBox-X (untested, accoding to its documentation):

  • Intel/AMD & ARM architectures supported.
  • 32 & 64 bit versions available.
  • Runs on old OSes like XP.
  • Emulates old (DOS based) 16/32 bit OSes Like: MS-Dos, Win 3.x, NT 4.0, 9.x & Me.
  • Lowend computers supported.
  • Updating once a month.
  • And more.

TLDR; DOSBox-X is the best choice!
