I've just posted a pre-release of aMSN Portable. This is another one I'd had kicking around. It's an instant messaging client specific to MSN. As a result, it can use some of the more advanced features of MSN that Gaim and Miranda can't.

I've left it for a few minutes and it still hadn't started to download or give me options of what to do with the file. Maybe try reloading the file to source forge??

SF always takes a few minutes. That's the whole reason I have that little note there (may take a few minutes). On busy days it can take 20 minutes. On slower days, it takes 1 minute.
I do manage to get out of the house now and then.

DefaultData has the default PokerTH settings instead of aMSN settings.

I get a message box immediately after running aMSNPortable.exe... it is generated by App\aMSN\bin\wish.exe:

No problem at home. I will test it with a firewall tomorrow, to see if it works.
EDIT : Please add multi-language support, like in the original aMSN.
EDIT 2 : Sorry, it didn't realize that multi-language support was there, but hidden.

I did a lot of tests and I noticed that :
-Loading the app, changing the skin, opening a new conversation window, etc. is VERY SLOW
-The option to auto-connect when aMSN starts doesn't work and makes it crash
-There is a problem when changing display picture, it seems that the loader interferes with default aMSN settings with the "My Document" path

It's under preferences. I'll be releasing a PR2 with it disabled by default.
Also, aMSN is a bit buggy on first run. It takes a couple launches to get it to remember your login and password correctly.

It takes a couple of Launches to remember login and password man it took me 1 launch and everything worked superbly

I continued my tests with your new release :
-It works fine with a proxy (Framakey's aMSN 0.95 version didn't)
-Display picture My Docs path bug seems to be solved
-It's still quite slow, even with USB 2.0 and P3 2.6 Ghz, I guess it's due to the original aMSN which is quite buggy
I am new to this network, but am loving it so far.
I am running it on Vista Ultimate behind a corporate fire wall and have moved it between my laptop and desktop successfully.
It is a little slow to startup, but the UI and usability of it is fantastic.
Works good, seems faster on first load then pre-release 1.
The only thing I've noticed probably has little to do with being portable, I've found that on first load, aMSN asks to do an update of a couple plugins (nudge and cam support if I recall correctly).
They've been updated since the aMSN release, but I'm keeping the versions in aMSN portable in sync with aMSN.

Just wondering is some folks with multiple accounts can test. Also, whether moving drives and preserving buddy icons, etc is working properly.

I found this in the config.xml
nudgepluginpathC:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/My Documents/Downloads/_incoming/aMSNPortable/App/aMSN/scripts/plugins/Nudge
I am guessing it is because I installed it there first then moved it to C:\PortableApps\aMSNPortable
Even after moving it, it still creates all the folders listed above until I manually changed the config.xml to.
nudgepluginpathC:/PortableApps/aMSNPortable/aMSN/scripts/plugins/Nudge
I am guessing this function is a hard path since it didn't change itself even after I tried moving it to another drive.
Just trying to figure out whats up.

Yeah, the launcher just updates the drive letters throughout the config.xml as you move PCs. Copying in a local one, you need to manually adjust the paths the first time. After that, it'll work fine.

1. can not change the display picture: click browse but no dialog box display. (PR1 & PR2, both of all)
2. can not add new language. In the same way(edit langlist file & add new language file), PR1 is works fine.

Everything seems to be working on this end. Display image selection works as well as moving the install to another drive and running it.

It's aMSN that can't handle the Video + Audio yet but just tested Video with a friend and worked well both ways.
And I don't see the slowness everyone mentions. Then again I'm running it from a SATA.

I finally figured out how you deal with files on the computer in places like Application Data, or in the case of this the user profile path. I didn't think NSIS had such advanced functions to set locations on the P.C. as other location. Example: UserPath to Settings. If I understand it correctly, that's amazing. This will help me much when I'm improving some of the apps I have been working on, which, I would like to thank you for. Because of your launcher and it being open source, I have been able to learn SO MUCH with NSIS, thanks very much John. I'd still be IMing and watching videos on youtube all the time if it weren't for you.

I Think that this app is quite good and have much less bugs than previous Realizes, but it is still TO SLOW!
is there any way to speed up thih app.
P.S. I Use this app every day at work, but Iam not a developer, i can test almost every app!

Is quite slow as well. So there's really no way to make the portable version any faster as John only writes a launcher for the program, he doesn't modify the actual program itself.
John may have a few tips of settings you can turn off to speed things up.
Thanks for your enthusiasm in testing, John has been releasing a lot of applications recently, a few are still in the beta forum, check out Pidgin Portable, InfraRecorder Portable, WackGet Portable and I think that's it. SciTE Portable is around too if you wanna search for it.

We're using PAC (as a proxy) at work , so we all have to use the "MSN WebMessenger" feature only. Is there any way to connect using the PAC address ? (i.e http://www.blabla.com/proxy.pac)
