avidemux

Program: AviDemux

License: Open Source/GPL

Description: Quote from the site:
Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities.

Website: http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/index.html

Other: Would be an excellent companion to the already available Audacity... possible to make a 'Portable Media Editing Suite' with the already available software.

Cheers

Thanks,
I believe either of these, although AviDemux is my personal fave, would do well because of existing Portable apps such as Audacity and VirtualDub

One Problem

I found Jashaka requires three other apps to operate.

May I also second that

May I also second that request?

I know Avidemux is portable but it is slightly better than VirtualDub.

To be honest I don't want it for me. I'd rather ran all my applications without them being portableapps related (it seems that PortablesApps adds another ~3.5MB of RAM consumption) but if you're passing the setup to non-Pc literate people keeping it all within the menu is somewhat necessary.

I just found out that if you put the avidemux folder in the PortableApps the avidemux executable will be picked up by the menu and appear on it.

Unfortunately, this works with any and all executables and since avidemux has more than one it creates a bit of a mess.

Is there a way to remove an entry from the menu (without physically removing it from the PortableApps folder)?

Videoeditor Avidemux

Avidemux is already portable. Go to www.avidemux.org , download the ZIP-Version and extract the content into a folder on your stick. There you will find 3 programs named avidemux: the gtk-, the qt4- and the cli-version. The cli-version is for commandline, the qt4 appears like my Avidemux for Linux, the gtk-Version is IMHO the best for Windowsusers, is has translations for several languages. Avidemux runs out of the box (out of this folder) without doing anything to your harddisk.

Have fun

I was looking into Avidemux

Just because something comes in a zip doesn't mean it's portable. The GTK version would require GTK would it not? And my installed version store settings under the user profile path. And from a quick look I don't see options to change it so settings can be stored elsewhere.

I got it by getting to an 'index of' page within WinPenPack and it was there, can't replicate it now though, it was some time ago. I have it so if you want it I'll need your email and I'll send it via media share or yousendit

Requires admin rights as it addds and removes registry keys for Jahshaka.

have you have been to the Jahshaka site recently? You will see the project is about to get back up and running! I have sent you the V2.0 RC4 portable version, its a bit buggy but fun to play with, esp the Animation module.

I found I had to render the animations using AVIUTL99 before Jahshaka would take them again :o/ See their forums.
