I opened the PortableApps platform, installed update, it then prompted me with a chrome update. I installed it and opened chrome. I restored my tabs with the OneTab extension. All tabs kept showing the circular loading icon. After a bit I hovered over the tabs and they all said "App Crashed." I closed the browser and I made a copy of my profile folder right after this. Now Chrome won't launch. I click the app icon, a brief loading circle shows, then nothing happens. Nothing about chrome even shows up in the task manager.
Can I restore the Previous Chrome Version (undo the update?) If not, can I move my profile, specifically bookmarks and some of my extension(s). I also have Session Buddy installed as a secondary tab backup.)
This is on the latest version of Win11 (and I hate it.)
There are quite a few tabs I need to recover.
Any Help Would be Appreciated.
Thank You.
EDIT: It finally launched going to the exe in the app\bin subfolder, but everything is gone from early March.
If you run that chrome.exe directly, you're running it in local mode as if you have it installed. Likely, some corruption occurred in your profile. I'd suggest backing it up, checking your drive for errors, and then doing a standalone upgrade with the same version you already have: https://portableapps.com/support/portable_app#upgrading
As a note, the only way I would recommend ever using Chrome is while being logged in and sync. This applies to local and portable. Otherwise, you will lose your data. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thank You for the help, I got everything back.
