Foxit Reader PA shows at start "MS Edge can't read and write to this directory"

I downloaded and extracted Foxit Reader PortableApps v2026.1.1 from

https://portableapps.com/apps/office/foxit_reader_portable

extracted and started it on Windows 10.

Then I always get an error/warning popup:

"Microsoft Edge can't read and write to this directory
C:\Users\pet\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Continuous\Foxit PDF Reader\FxWebView\EBWebView"

Whats wrong?
I've never used Edge browser in the past.
What has Edge to do with Foxit?

I guess its a bug.

Fine Here

It's fine here on Windows 10 64-bit fully updated including additional updates after main EOL.

Foxit uses webview, which is MS Edge, to display the contents of the main home screen.

Are you fully up to date post EOL? 32-bit or 64-bit? What's your full install path? Applied all MS Edge and MS Store updates?

OneDrive Sync, Pay

You can either setup syncing to OneDrive or pay a fee for a year. I don't think that's what's your issue, though. Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit? Have you tried manually deleting C:\Users\pet\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Continuous\Foxit PDF Reader when Foxit Portable isn't running (provided you won't also have a local copy)?

Thank you for your

Thank you for your suggestions.
However I am confused.

I am running 64bit Windows 10.
I downloaded latest Foxit Reader Portable from

https://portableapps.com/apps/office/foxit_reader_portable#download_details

The web page does not show if it is 32bit or 64bit.

After Installation it turns out that it is 32bit.
Where can I download the 64bit version of Foxit reader Portable?

My current full installaltion path is

D:\edit\pdfs\FoxIt\v2026.1.1\

I am not using the central PortableApps base tool but download and install PortableApps packages independently.
This works fine for dozends of other Portable Apps packages.

Furthermore I don't understand the suggestion to manually delete

C:\Users\pet\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Continuous\Foxit PDF Reader\

The key feature of PortableApps software is to be independent of any WindowsOS directories.

So every temporary or cache or other files should be stored in the "Data" sub directory and NEVER in
User folders like

C:\Users\pet\AppData\

Edge

Is Microsoft Edge fully up to date and all updates applied in the Microsoft Store? Foxit uses the Windows WebView components for its homepage, which are a limited version of Microsoft Edge.

As for deleting, I'm suggesting it in case that directory already exists outside of Foxit Portable (aka when it's not running) and may have some write permission issues. Nearly all portable apps temporarily write somewhere to the local machine, even if its just TEMP. If where its trying to write isn't allowed, it's not gonna work.
