Audacity is a very good program. it might already be able to be used off a thumbdrive. not sure, havent tried it, so i would know, but it would be great to see this made into a portable app. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Someone has already looked into it and it can be used on the drive. In fact, I have installed it and it does work.
but, after you install it, can u take it out and put it into another computer and run it. cuz doesnt it write to the registry when u install it?? i know most apps out there write to the registry and look for that key in order to run. is audacty(sp?) like that??
If you moniter that distribution of Audacity with Regmon, you'll notice that it stores a number of entrees in the registry.
