Vivaldi, Again

Dear Forum --

Please forgive if I haven't found my "Solution" buried someplace in the Forum. I am (as most old folks) pressed for time.

Yes I did Search (and found nothing usable). So I humbly ask. There are 1000's of Browsers

Of the Chromium variants Vivaldi is least offensive, in terms of Privacy.

It would be most expedient if someone would kindly direct me to:

---> "How to Create a Portable Installation of an Application"

As I have several Proprietary Applications (For which I have paid) I simply do NOT WANT TO MAKE A MESS OF VERY PARED DOWN WINDOWS 10 Install

Meaning Updates, MS-Edge, all the stupid junk (End User Apps like Spotify, Evernote MS STore) are removed.

For reasons escaping me Micro-Sausage diabolical "!Trusted Installer" leaves its' pecker tracks in Registry Keys not even I can get at. Then there's the bizarre behaviour of Browsers (most perverse being the Chrome variants) of placing the Users "profile" buried some gobble-de-gook directory name within "AppData"

I want to install these things on a USB, or SD-Drive, that I can plug into any Win32 (7+) 64 bit box I build

Please?

Kind Regards

virginwidow

(can be found just about anyplace, like Github or telegram, by that "nick")

Unlikely, sorry

Chromium based browsers are terrible for portability, and potentially getting worse.

We have a blanket policy of no more Chromium browsers until Chromium (or an exception of an individual browser) works to make our job a little easier.

Vivaldi Portable

Hi,
Vivaldi is'nt portable because it write this registry key:
--> 'HKCU\Software\Vivaldi'

For details please see this post on Portable Freeware: https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2869

But there are two workarounds:
Stable installation:
1. for a Stable installation please download an online installer from MediaFire: https://www.mediafire.com/file/9diz6eloik05si6/Vivaldi_Portable_stable_3...
2. launch it and in first screen enter the build number (for example '7.9.3970.60') and confirm
3. extract and run 'VivaldiPortable'

Snapshot installation:
1. please download an online installer from MediaFire: https://www.mediafire.com/file/77oaxbd16lqtg16/Vivaldi_Portable_snapshot...
2. launch it and in first screen enter the build number (for example '7.10.4031.3') and confirm
3. extract and run 'VivaldiSnapshotPortable'

Note_1
Stable build and Snapshot build have their own folders and settings (you can install both).

Note_2
Vivaldi isn't truly portable because it doesn't allow you to move an installation between computers (data is encrypted with a unique key for each PC).
One solution is the one suggested in the Vivaldi forum: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/78599/vivaldi-portable-e-password
