Some Details

That setting should not be turned on in a portable browser. If you did turn it on, you'll need to remove it from the registry and the Windows startup.

If you'd like Firefox Portable to start on Windows startup, you need to manually set FirefoxPortable.exe to run on startup.

Is Firefox starting when you turn the computer on? Do you have it set as your default browser? Any chance you're clicking one of the little 'more info' boxes on the Windows lock screen? (they open your default browser after you log in)

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Firefox Portable since 152.0

Firefox Portable since 152.0 (64 bit)
Settings > Home and startup
- turn off "Open Firefox automatically when your computer starts up"
- close Firefox Portable
- open Firefox Portable
- setting is turned on again
- repeat above steps - same thing happens
- does not happen with versions less than 151 (due to changes in Firefox Settings from 152.0?)

- if option is left on, Portable Firefox will launch upon entering Windows
- in Registry Editor > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, the following line appears:
[path to Firefox portable base directory]\App\firefox\firefox.exe -os-autostart
- Firefox Portable not set as default browser
- happens on fresh install with no prior configuration/profile or extensions/add-ons installed
- does not happen with regular non portable Firefox
